Why Do we need constant investment in Human Capital?
Many would say the best way to work is through hard work and discipline, where in the focus is more laid on working long hours, punctuality etc. agreed these things cannot be replaced, but is there a better alternative ???...... Now why the hell do we need an alternative ????....well to answer this if you are a manager at any level ask yourself these basic questions :
Are the people in organization coming on time to the office, without being monitored ?
( you can argue that half an hour doesn’t make a difference….think again….you are in a crunch situation and the delivery is urgent….what will half an hour mean then….time saved = time produced – always and every time without exception )
When you do not monitor the workforce…..do they tend to while away time ???
Is the process that you are into has become monotonous ??
Does your workforce tend to just kill time before they can leave for the day ??
Are your sub-ordinates not self motivated ???
Is there a lack of camaraderie between workforce ??
Is the word TEAM justified or is built on hard work and perseverance of a few individuals in the organization ??
Are you stressed out that if you are not physically present your TEAM shall lose focus or the work will not get done ???
( Here again you will say physical presence is important…agreed…but everytime ???…or if due to unavoidable / inexplicable reasons you are not present… you expect less work to be done??…you feel the need to stand on the head of your work force….. THINK---- what are you reduced to doing….supervising or progressing ??? oh there you go again saying yeah I can do both…but sweetheart you can do both…but that simply makes you SLOW…..and being slow is like a bad habit…leave it before it dissolves your business into a slow growing entity…because sooner or later you will find yourself trying to just keep your head above water….now here you go again saying ---“things and companies take time to evolve and become big...and you also give examples of how such and such company took like 15 years to grow…and how such an such person worked there asses off to make big” ….agreed again …but what should be your focus as an entrepreneur GROWTH or STABILITY…..dont even say both because growth and stability are inversely or directly proportional in varied circumstances…. I ll give an example to illustrate this --- if you are a small company then growth is directly proportional to stability ….because you need to grow or else you shall fade…you are the small fish…remember….Now if you have a big business than growth can become inversely proportional to stability …why ???....because if you are growing at a fast pace and lack the institutional stability then you end up stealing from your own dinner table or…in business terms tend to collapse under your own weight….when a star reaches a certain mass known as Chandrashekhar’s limit….it collapses in its own weight…so you need to keep a distance from the chandrsshekhar’s limit for your company ) Here stability becomes more important...more the stability - more are the chances for successfully facing adversities and growing... If answer to many question falls in the red area ….then you need to change something because inaction leads to more of such slump…it is like a disease that gets difficult to treat once you keep ignoring it for long.
